Comprehensive eye exam

The comprehensive examination is the foundation any later treatment decision is built on. It covers measuring your sight and glasses prescription, examining the front of the eye and its pressure, and assessing the retina where needed. Many eye conditions develop without clear symptoms early on, which is why a periodic examination remains worthwhile even with no specific complaint. It is also what determines whether vision-correction procedures suit you.

How it works

  1. 1 Measuring sight and determining the glasses prescription
  2. 2 Examining the front of the eye and measuring eye pressure
  3. 3 Assessing the retina and cornea with the examinations the case calls for
  4. 4 Discussing the results and deciding the next step, if any

Recovery

The examination is non-surgical and needs no recovery period. If dilating drops are used, vision may be less sharp for a few hours afterwards, so it is worth arranging transport accordingly. The clinic team will tell you in advance if your examination will include this.
